Caleb Hill and Jaquay Cross connected on a 73-yard touchdown on the Brenham Cubs’ first play from scrimmage and they never looked back en route to a 42-13 win over Spring Woods, Friday night at Cubs Stadium.

Hill would hook up with tight end Shawn Weiss on 45-yard touchdown catch and run on the first play of the second quarter to extend the Cubs’ lead to 14-0.

After that, running back Ernest Patterson took over the game, scoring on runs of 1, 5, 19 and 45 yards, giving him 26 rushing touchdowns on the season.  Patterson would finish with 192 yards rushing, giving him a total of 1803 yards in 10 games.

Hill completed four-of-eight passes for 165 yards and two scores, giving him 19 touchdown passes for the season.

The Cubs’ defense was also dominant, completely shutting out the Tigers’ passing game to no pass completions for the night.

The Tigers ran for 249 yards, with most coming in the second half, with the outcome already a certainty.

Coach Glen West honored the Cubs seniors by starting all 21 members of the team’s senior class.  Most of those seniors also got to play in the second half as well, with the game well in hand.

The Cubs will face either Houston Yates or North Forest in the Bi-District playoffs next Friday night.  Their opponent hinges on results from Saturday play.

If Brenham faces Yates, the game will be at Cubs Stadium Friday night.  If North Forest is the opponent, the game will be at a neutral site.

Wherever and whenever the game is played it will be live on KWHI and www.kwhi.com.
