DYANN WHITE DISCUSSES NEW ROLE AS WASHINGTON CO. CHIEF APPRAISER

Washington County’s new chief appraiser is quickly settling into her new role.

Dyann White officially started her new position on January 4th, after working for the Milam County Appraisal District for 18 years, seven of which as Milam County’s chief appraiser.  January 25th was White’s first day working at the Washington County Appraisal District in person, as she spent the previous weeks working remotely.

White said there are a lot of similarities between Milam and Washington counties, so she feels this position offers a fairly seamless transition.

While working in Milam County, White served on several boards at the state level through the Texas Association of Appraisal Districts (TAAD).   She still serves in many of those capacities, including a liaison committee and membership committee.  She also serves as a regional trustee for Region 6, which includes Milam and Washington counties, for the TAAD.

White said utilizing new technology to limit the burden on personnel and maximize efficiency, while also appraising accurately, are her main points of emphasis.

Washington County’s previous chief appraiser, Willy Dilworth, retired at the end of 2020.  White said she attended many training sessions hosted by Dilworth in Brenham while she worked in Milam County.  She said Dilworth did “an excellent job” during his time in Brenham, and intends to pick up where he left off.

White has been married to her husband, Ira, for 26 years.  They have three adult children – Christian, Ashton, and Quinton – and three grandchildren.
