ELDERLY HOUSTON MAN AND ACCOMPLICE ARRESTED FOR THEFT
An elderly Houston man and his 52-year old accomplice were arrested Tuesday afternoon near Bellville, after allegedly stealing a riding lawnmower from the Brenham Wal-Mart.
Brenham Police officer Lance Weiss was called to the scene at 12:56pm, Tuesday when workers at the store saw two men loading up the mower in the back of a silver pickup truck. The pickup then drove toward Bellville. The Austin County Sheriff’s Office was notified, and when the truck came into Bellville, a half hour later, deputies were waiting for them.
Seventy-three year old John Henry Braden of Houston and 52-year old Leonard Benjamin Rollins were arrested for stealing the riding mower.
Although the theft was under $1500, Braden had two previous convictions so the charge was enhanced to a felony.
Unbelievable, sadly age and wisdom don’t always go together!
