MAX HIBBS NAMED DEAN AT BLINN COLLEGE

  

After six months as interim division head, Blinn College has named Max Hibbs its new dean of Mathematics, Business, Engineering & Technology.

A member of the Blinn faculty since 2000, Hibbs was named an assistant dean in July 2014 and has served as interim dean since August.

“Max Hibbs’ extensive experience in education, private industry and as a former small business owner makes him distinctly qualified to lead this diverse division,” said Karen Buck, assistant vice president for instruction. “His student-centered approach to instruction and his passion for education have made him an integral part of our success.”

Blinn’s Division of Mathematics, Business, Engineering & Technology serves 12,000-15,000 students each semester and is home to a broad array of academic programs, including accounting, business, computer science, economics, engineering, information technology, mathematics, office administration, real estate, small business management, technology and web design.

Hibbs has served as an officer in the Blinn Professional Association and is a member of the Texas Community College Teachers Association and numerous Blinn committees. Hibbs won the NISOD Teaching Excellence Award in 2009 and has served as faculty advisor for several student groups.

As assistant dean, Hibbs played a key role in bringing the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn to the Brenham campus last Fall, establishing a one-of-a-kind living and learning community in which students can pursue their engineering degree while co-enrolled at Texas A&M and Blinn.

Hibbs earned his Bachelor of Science in mathematics and computer science from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and his Master of Science in mathematics from Oklahoma State University.

Prior to arriving at Blinn, he served as owner and president/CEO of Computer Ventures, Inc. and worked as an analyst with ConocoPhillips.
