‘STROS PEN BLOWS LEAD–RANGERS WIN
The Astros’ bullpen failed to protect a four-run lead, as the Giants rallied to beat Houston 7-6 in extra innings.
Houston held a 6-2 lead, before San Francisco rallied for three runs in the seventh; one in the ninth; and one in the tenth.
The Astros took the early lead with three runs in the second on run-scoring doubles by Martine Moldonado and Josh Riddick. Two runs in the sixth extended the lead to 6-2.
But six Astros relievers combined to give up five earned runs over five inning. Cy Sneed (0-3) took the loss, yielding the game-winning single to Brandon Crawford.
The Astros will host the Giants again Wednesday night at 6:10. The game can be heard on KWHI and FM 101.7, beginning at 5:35.
Nick Solak singled three times and drove in three runs, as the Rangers downed Seattle, 4-2.
Edinson Volquez (2-1), the third of six Texas pitchers, picked up the win. Raphael Montero pitched a scoreless ninth to notch his third save.
The win was the Rangers’ fourth in their last five games. The same two teams meet Wednesday night at 8:05 in Arlington.
