‘STROS PEN BLOWS LEAD–RANGERS WIN

The Astros’ bullpen failed to protect a four-run lead, as the Giants rallied to beat Houston 7-6 in extra innings.

Houston held a 6-2 lead, before San Francisco rallied for three runs in the seventh; one in the ninth; and one in the tenth.

The Astros took the early lead with three runs in the second on run-scoring doubles by Martine Moldonado and Josh Riddick.  Two runs in the sixth extended the lead to 6-2.

But six Astros relievers combined to give up five earned runs over five inning.  Cy Sneed (0-3) took the loss, yielding the game-winning single to Brandon Crawford.

The Astros will host the Giants again Wednesday night at 6:10.  The game can be heard on KWHI and FM 101.7, beginning at 5:35.

Nick Solak singled three times and drove in three runs, as the Rangers downed Seattle, 4-2.

Edinson Volquez (2-1), the third of six Texas pitchers, picked up the win.  Raphael Montero pitched a scoreless ninth to notch his third save.

The win was the Rangers’ fourth in their last five games.  The same two teams meet Wednesday night at 8:05 in Arlington.
