TWO ARRESTED IN SEALY ON FRAUD CHARGES AFTER BRIEF PURSUIT

A pair of Houston women were arrested in Sealy Friday morning, after leading Austin County authorities on a chase in a vehicle and on foot.

Kim Benson
(Austin Co. Jail)

Just before 10:45 a.m., Sealy police officers responded to the 1600 block of South Loop 350 for a call involving two suspects, who were attempting to use fraudulent information to purchase a tractor.

When officers arrived, one of the suspects fled in a vehicle, striking one police vehicle and ramming a pipe gate twice before leaving the scene.  The second suspect fled on foot, and was taken into custody following a short foot pursuit.

The fleeing vehicle was pursued by Sealy police, in addition to Austin County Sheriff’s Deputies and DPS troopers, along I-10.  The driver stopped inside the Colorado County line and was taken into custody.  No one was injured in the incident.

Evelyn Brown
(Austin Co. Jail)

Arrested were 52-year-old Kim Benson and 42-year-old Evelyn Brown, both of Houston.  Both were charged with False Statement to Obtain Property or Credit and Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Info.

Benson was also charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and two counts of Criminal Mischief, while Brown was charged with Evading Arrest on Foot and Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport.  Both were booked into the Austin County Jail.
