WASHINGTON CO. APPRAISAL DISTRICT MEETING TO ADOPT NEW BUDGET

The Washington County Appraisal District will look to adopt the new school year budget at Tuesday’s meeting.

Following public forum, the Board of Directors will adopt the new year’s budget, followed by the appointment of 2018’s agricultural committee.  The Board will also receive a report from the Chief Appraiser, before adjourning into executive session.

This year’s budget will see total payroll costs at $560,811, more than $3,000 above 2017’s budget.  Professional personnel are receiving just above $2,000 more total than they did last year, at $69,750.  Although para-professional costs are down almost $6,000, at $445,762, retirement costs spiked to $10,000, more than $7,000 above last year’s costs.

Professional and contracted service costs are around $1,500 more than they were last year, at $161,805.  Increases in audit service and contracted maintenance costs caused the uptick in budget totals.

The Board of Directors will meet Tuesday at 10 a.m., in the Appraisal District Building on 1301 Niebuhr Street.
