ARTS AND APPETIZERS CONTINUES TO RAISE FUNDS

Tuesday night’s Arts and Appetizers was another great success for the Brenham ISD Education Foundation but BISD Business manager Kim Horne says they are still counting the funds raise.

As of now, the annual event raised $7464 but additional donations are coming in.  She said the live auction of the student art work raised $6000 alone.

Arts and Appetizers is one of ways  the Brenham ISD Education Foundation raises money  for the local schools.  The proceeds from Arts and Appetizers go the students who produced the artwork, the Foundation and to teachers.  The teachers can apply for ‘mini-grants’ to aid their teaching efforts.  The grants provide additional equipment and supplies for the teachers.

The Brenham School Board heard another report on the progress of the new Alton Elementary School and the renovations at the Brenham Middle School at Thursday night’s meeting.  Assistant BISD Supt. Byron McAdams says most of the outdoor work is on its way to being completed, even with the recent weather.  While the weather was wet and cold, work proceeds on the interiors of the schools and he has no concerns about the schools being ready for the upcoming school year in August.
