MCCAUL CONCERNED ABOUT MAILBOX CLUSTER DELAYS

District 10 U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul has joined with Congressman Pete Olson in a complaint on he placement of mailboxes.

In a letter sent last week to the U.S. Postal Service and Postmaster Patrick Donahoe, saying it was ‘unacceptable’ for new homeowners in southeastern Texas to have to wait up to nine months for the service to install cluster mailboxes in their subdivision.

In the letter the Texas congressional representatives say this is a delay in mail delivery is resulting in fines for late payments and sometimes the disconnection of utilities, such and water and electric.

The postal service made cluster mailboxes, centralized groupings of mailboxes mounted on a pedestal, mandatory for all new developments as a way to offset the agency’s $40 billion debt. The congressmen hope to meet with postal officials to resolve this problem.

The local congressional representative also joined his Republicans in the House by criticizing the Obama Administration  for delaying the employer mandate for another year.  Congressman McCaul called this a political maneuver and that the President is ‘picking and choosing’ which parts of the Affordable Care Act to enforce.t
