APPRAISAL DISTRICT TO USE EXCESS FUNDS FOR PROJECTS

Chief Appraiser Willy Dilworth

The Washington County Commissioner voted to allow the County Appraisal District to retain excess funds from this year’s budget to be used on several projects.  Chief Appraiser Willy Dilworth said that $31,000 of the funds would be used to replace 5 computer servers used by his office.  A portion of the funds will also be used to purchase an emergency power transfer switch to supply power to the building when the electricity fails.  The cost will be shared with the Brenham ISD’s Technology Department, which is housed in the same building.  Dilworth said the remainder of the funds will be applied to the cost of aerial photos of the county in 2020.  County Judge commented that the reason the Appraisal District has excess fund is because they are frugal in their spending.  He recommended approval the funds because it was going towards needed items.

  1. WOW, in a little over a Decade our property value with NO new improvements has gone from 30,000 to 145,000 and HALF OF IT FLOODS. How about a rebate to taxpayers???????????????

  2. If my property taxes had not gone up in the last 3 consecutive years I might have a very small excess fund of my own, and I am extremely frugal, not by choice, but by necessity!!!
