BURTON MAN SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS

  

A Burton man will spend the next two years behind bars after pleading guilty to Bail Jumping and Failure to Appear.

52-year old Don Wayne Basey was arrested after a warrant was issued for his arrest on August 4th, for Failure to Appear on a charge of Obstruction/Retalliation—a Class 3 felony.

He was arrested August 11th by the Brenham Police Department’s Fusion Unit.

Basey was sentenced by District Judge Reva Towslee Corbett.

Also in District Courty, Tuesday:

40-year old Curtis Lee Fisher of Bellville was sentenced to just over two years in prison on a family violence charge.  Fisher pleaded guilty to Assault Family Violence Impeding Breathing.  He was sentenced to 814 days behind bars.

41-year old Robert Umberson of New Braunfels was sentenced to two years in prison and fined $1000 for Evading Arrest.  Umberson was arrested on August 6th of this year.  He is also ordered to complete 120 hours of community service and undergo drug and alcohol treatment.

26-year old Staci Chillson of San Antonio was sentenced to 300 days in jail on charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance, after her arrest on February 14th.

And, 37-year old Amy Daniels of Burton was placed on six years probation on a charge of Organized Retail Theft $1500-20,000.  Daniels was also ordered to perform 240 hours of community service and undergo drug and alcohol treatment.
