The trial for a Caldwell teenager charged with capital murder has been set to take place in  February.police-lights-feature

Police say 18-year-old Gavin Snow shot 47-year-old Steven Bryant in the head at Bryant’s home on Old Somerville Road in March of 2015. Snow was 16-years-old at the time of the incident.

This week District Judge Carson Campbell granted the motion to move the trial to Monday, February 27th.

In a hearing on November 4th, Judge Carson Campbell denied a motion by Gavin’s attorney, Shannan Flanigan, to suppress Snow’s statements that he made to officers at the time of the arrest. In a separate motion, Campbell also denied Flanigan’s motion that argued life in prison was unconstitutional for children.

No trial date has been set for codefendant, 18-year-old Manual Isadoro Ramon. Snow and Ramon were indicted on September 9th by a Burleson County Grand Jury. Both are being held at the Burleson County Jail on a $750,000 bond.

While it is a capital case, prosecutors will not seek the death penalty because the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that it is unconstitutional for anyone under the age of 18.  The maximum sentence for a juvenile certified as an adult for capital murder is life with the possibility of parole.
