COMMISSIONERS RECOGNIZE TWO COUNTY EMPLOYEES

Two people received special recognition during this (Tuesday) mornings County Commissioners meeting.  Keren McGill was honored for her 12 years of service as the Administrative Assistant to County Judge John Brieden and the Commissioners.  Her final day in that position is Thursday.  New county employee Brandi Salazar will be taking her place.  Salazar comes to Washington County after working 10 years for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Karen McGill is recognized by County Judge John Brieden and the Commissioners Court.
EMS Director Kevin Deramus

Kevin Deramus was also recognized during his monthly report as being selected as the Texas EMS Director of the Year.  Deramus received the honor at the state convention last week in Ft. Worth.

Commissioners approved the placement of several temporary water lines for oil and gas drilling companies.  The lines will be laid along portions of Koether Road, Moye Road, Bascome Lane, Hummingbird Road, Lange Lake Road, Old Mill Creek Road, and Hohenwalde School Road.   County Engineer Don Worth said that if the temporary lines were not approved, the drilling companies would be forced to truck the water in, potentially damaging county roads.   Commissioners asked the Road and Bridge Department to use the county’s reverse 991 system to notify residents that may be affected by the temporary water lines.

Commissioners approved the revised County Compensation Policy.  Commissioner Joy Fuchs said that the policy was addressed during the budget process and that changes to it are made several times a year.  Commissioners directed that the policy be added to the county’s personnel manual.

Washington County Chamber of Commerce President Page Michel presented the Tax Phase-In Compliance Review Committee report.  She told the commissioners that all 10 of the companies that are receiving Tax Phase-Ins are in compliance with the value creation and payroll criteria.

Commissioners also took care of a number of routine items.  As the budget year is ending, they approved several line item transfers and budget amendments.   They also received a number of monthly reports from county departments.
