COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS JUDGE POST
Washington County commissioners will discuss a possible appointment for the county court at law judge, when they meet Tuesday morning.
Commissioners will discuss an interim successor to Judge Matthew Reue, who has announced he will retire as of Friday.
The commissioners could either appoint an interim judge, or choose to rotate visiting judges in the position until the November election.
Republicans have chosen Assistant D.A. Eric Berg as their candidate. Berg lost a narrow race against Reue in the last election.
Democratic Party officials say they will make a nomination prior to the August 29th deadline.
Also at Tuesday’s meeting, commissioners are expected to:
Discuss an agreement with the Brazos County Rape Crisis Center.
Discuss an amendment to the contract for inmate pay for services for the county jail.
Approve the purchase of a new Chevrolet Tahoe for the sheriff’s office.
And approve acceptance of Friends Lane and Kerala Lane in Burton Villas subdivision in Precinct One.
Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. in room 103 of the county courthouse.
