SuccessfulStudent.org highlights Blinn’s success transferring students to Texas A&M
A website dedicated to help college students meet their academic and career goals has named the Blinn College-Bryan Campus one of the top colleges for transferring to Texas universities.
SuccessfulStudent.org named Blinn-Bryan one of the best colleges for transferring to four-year Texas universities, pointing to the success of the award-winning Texas A&M-Blinn TEAM (Transfer Enrollment at A&M) Program.
The Blinn College District’s academic transfer rate regularly ranks among the highest in the state and the nation. According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), Blinn’s academic transfer rate of 34.2 percent ranks second in the state, exceeding the state-wide average of 21.1 percent.
Blinn has had exceptional success in transferring students to Texas A&M University. In fact, 3,931 Blinn students who enrolled in Fall 2015 transferred to Texas A&M by Spring 2016. That total represents 68.7 percent of transfer students from that semester.

Offered to qualifying students during the Texas A&M freshman admissions process, the TEAM Program allows students to co-enroll at Blinn and Texas A&M. Participating students are enrolled in one academic course at Texas A&M each semester and complete the remainder of their courses at the Blinn – Bryan campus. Students who complete 45 Blinn credit hours and 15 Texas A&M credit hours within two years, with a 3.0 grade point average at each school, are automatically admitted to Texas A&M. TEAM students can apply for transfer admission sooner when they meet the eligibility requirements.
“TEAM students get the best of both worlds,” said Dr. Crystal Lee, Vice Chancellor of Instruction. “Not only do they enjoy the smaller classroom environment and lower cost Blinn offers, but they also get the full university experience with access to Texas A&M sporting events and student activities.”
In 2014, the Texas A&M University College of Engineering and Blinn College built upon the TEAM Program’s success with the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn-Bryan, a co-enrollment program that offers students a unique pathway to pursue an engineering degree from Texas A&M. Engineering Academy students will take a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester, including two to three credit hours of Texas A&M engineering courses. In 2015, the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn-Brenham was introduced, providing students on the Blinn-Brenham Campus a similar co-enrollment opportunity.
In addition to its innovative co-enrollment programs, Blinn has articulation agreements in place with 39 four-year institutions, including Angelo State University, Ashford University, Baylor University, Bellevue University, Lamar University, Midwestern State University, Prairie View A&M University, Sam Houston State University, Sul Ross State University, Tarleton State University, Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University-Central Texas, Texas A&M University-Commerce, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M University-Galveston, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Texas A&M University-San Antonio, Texas Southern University, Texas State University, Texas Woman’s University, the University of North Texas, the University of Texas at Arlington, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Texas at Dallas, the University of Texas at El Paso, the University of Texas at San Antonio, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, the University of Texas at Tyler, the University of Texas Medical Branch, the University of Texas-Pan American, the University of Houston, the University of Houston-Clear Lake, the University of Houston-Victoria, the University of Phoenix, West Texas A&M University, and Wiley College.
According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s CollegeForAllTexans.com, out-of-district Blinn students who take 30 credit hours during the 2017-18 academic year will save $3,717 (42 percent) compared to state residents at the average Texas public university.
In addition to Blinn’s low tuition and fees, the Blinn Foundation offers more than 200 endowed scholarships available to incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and experiences. Blinn students and prospective students also can register for external scholarships and participate in grant programs.
