FATAL ACCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 6

A College Station woman is dead after an accident in Brazos County, Monday morning.

45-year old Lori Haley Marberry was killed in the crash that occurred around 7:30 a.m. under the overpass bridge on Highway 6 at Rock Prairie Road.

According to authorities, Marberry was headed north on the Hwy 6 feeder road and lost control of her vehicle.  The car ran down the grassy hill and crashed into a pillar.

The accident caused a major traffic back up on the highway, as police shut down northbound lanes.

All lanes of Highway 6 were reopened by early this (Monday) afternoon.

  1. It is VERY likely that this accident was due to a medical condition. Lori did not text and drive and was a very safe driver and always aware of her surroundings. I understand why this is first to think and try to blame it on but if you knew Lori you would never say that she was at fault for this tragedy. As horrible as this has been for her family and friends, I think we can all be thankful she didn’t harm anyone else. You will always be in our thoughts Lori Hailey.

  2. I travel it every day! The people drive too dang fast! It’s that and they are looking at the phone and should be driving.

  3. My observation only – whenever I hear about a one-car accident, texting comes to my mind first.

  4. I don’t travel hwy. 6 but it’s like every other month someone is killed there. What’s the deal with that highway?

    1. Highway 21 West of Bryan has vehicle accidents to often, too. Wonder if TxDot ever does studies on these 2 highways.

    2. Heavy traffic, extreme excessive speed, no shoulders or decel/accel lanes (currently being addressed). Frankly, it’s hard to see how the many, many wrecks on SH6 between Hempstead and C.S. aren’t primarily due to excessive speed for the conditions by most of the drivers. US290 is a racetrack some parts of the week, but that stretch of SH6 is like a dragstrip all the time. Beats me as to why; it’s clearly not even safe @ 70mph, but folks routinely do 90.
