A former Texas A&M Corps of Cadets student has been sentenced to 6 years in prison after violating his probation for Possession of Child Pornography.

Rolando Patlan, 30, of Dallas, was sentenced to 6 years in prison by the Honorable Judge Travis Bryan III. Patlan received 10 years of probation for Possession of Child Pornography in 2008.  According to court documents, Patlan confessed to police about having child porn after three of Patlan's fellow corps members told university police that Patlan possessed child porn.

His probation was transferred to Dallas County and proceeded without incident until January 2016 when he failed to participate in a court order polygraph examination.

In March 2016, a Dallas County Probation Officer, who testified at the hearing, said that the defendant admitted to continuing to download child and adult pornography. Furthermore, he admitted to having sex with prostitutes and exposing himself on a chat website called Chat-roulette. Patlan also discussed his desire to expose himself at bus stops. It was then found that he had been frequenting movie theaters where children under the age of 17 could be found.

After hearing the testimony of Dallas and Brazos County Probation Officers, the Court revoked Patlan’s probation and sentenced him to 6 years in prison.

  1. I am going to say something that many will not like but it deserves to be said. The general prison population is really not a good place for this person. Yes he deserves punishment which he is getting, but he is dealing with a very deep issue that needs treatment and counseling. Prison will not fix him, and may likely make his issue worse. Once he emerges from prison, without treatment, he will be very likely to repeat his past behavior or worse. I hope a justice system recognizes a sex addiction for what it is and requires him to seek treatment while he is locked up, otherwise there is no hope for him or those he may victimize later in life. I suspect this man has been through much trauma of his own in life.
