GOVERNOR SETS SENATE SPECIAL ELECTION FOR DEC. 6
Governor Rick Perry has made it official…
Late Friday, Governor Perry set Saturday, Dec. 6, as the date for the special election to fill the Texas State Senate District 18 seat.
That seat is being vacated by Sen. Glenn Hegar, who was elected to serve as Texas Comptroller.
District 13 State Representative Lois Kolkhorst announced back in August her intentions of running for the seat once it became open.
Kolkhorst has served in the State House for seven terms, first elected in 2000.
Richmond businessman Gary Gates has also announced his plans to run for the seat.
The early voting period begins Wednesday, Nov. 26.
