A Louisiana man has been charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon at a local business.

Early on Thursday morning around 2:30am, Cpl. Jared Campbell, along with several other officers, responded to the 2300 block of S. Day Street at the Comfort Suites, in reference to a male passed out with a gun.

The other officers located the man in the back stairwell, asleep, with a handgun visible in his waistband.

Once the handgun was removed, the subject was awakened.

He appeared to be confused and very disoriented and unsteady on his feet, and had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, and acknowledged he had been drinking beer and had come out to the stairs to make a call.

A field sobriety test was administered, and thirty-two-year old Zachary Dewayne Powledge, of Louisiana, was arrested and charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon and Public Intoxication.
