Superintendent Douglas Devine said that a note was left in the boy’s bathroom at the high school that stated a student had a gun and was going to use it. The note went on to name five students who were possible suspects.

School officials called the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. By the time they arrived, a teacher had found a loaded pistol revolver in a backpack of one of the five students listed. The student reportedly admitted to wanting to use the weapon.

The student was transported to Madisonville Juvenile Probation Office for an interview and disposition.

The school was not placed on lock down and the Sheriff’s Office says everyone at the school is safe.
