REPRESENTATIVE SCHUBERT PROUD OF BALANCED BUDGET

District Representative Leighton Schubert

In a statement with KHWI this (Monday) morning, Representative Leighton Schubert talked about how he was proud of the victories the Texas Legislature had in their past session, including the massive budget they were able to pass.

Mentioning impressive figures, like how Texas added 1 million people to the population.

Even with that, Texas managed to bring in a budget that spends less overall than last year.

He also focused on how there are an additional 40,000 students across Texas being added annually, which, according to Schubert, is about the size of the Fort Worth Independent School District. It's a large reason why Schubert believes the school funding bill that failed deserves a second go round, should it make it to a special session.

Schubert is now back home with his wife and 10 month old son, and enjoying his time in "God's Country" as he calls it.

Schubert's interview with KWHI kicked off by discussing the budget, which Schubert expressed was the biggest success.

There were bills he expressed disappointment in seeing fall to the wayside, especially one that were particularly personal.

When asked what ways Schubert felt people could bring attention to the matter, especially now that the bill had failed, Schubert called the question a good one, and explained the progress since the bill’s failure.

The entire interview with Representative Schubert is available below.
