SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR JUNE
Local sales tax rebates showed a dramatic increase over the payments they received one year ago.
The City of Brenham’s rebate of $528,525 is a 9.6-percent increase over last June’s rebate of $482.372. For the year, Brenham has received $3,231,594—and increase of 5.2-percent over last year at this same time.
The rebate for Washington County was $220,486, which is up 17.1-percent from last June’s payment of $118,208. The county has received $1,331,942, so far this year, up 6.8-percent over last year.
The City of Burton’s rebate this month is $5,077 which is up 118.7-percent from last June’s $2,321—Burton has enacted an increase to a 1.5-cent sales tax rate. For the year, Burton has received $33,124—up 75.2-percent from the same time last year.
According to Texas Comptroller Glen Hager, the state distributed $640-million in sales tax allocations—3.6-percent more than last June.
This month’s allocations are based on April sales.
