ONE DEAD AFTER SEMI-TRUCK CRASH BETWEEN GIDDINGS AND PAIGE

  

9:10 A.M. update:

One man is dead following an accident on U.S. 290 between Giddings and Paige this (Monday) morning.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports the driver of a semi-truck headed west near milepost 632 crossed into oncoming lanes and hit another 18-wheeler that was headed in the opposite direction head-on.

According to DPS, the driver of the truck that crossed into oncoming traffic died at the scene. The other driver was flown to University Medical Center Brackenridge for treatment.

As of 8:50 a.m., DPS reports that one lane is now open to thru traffic.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says two 18-wheelers collided on the highway. DPS is investigating the crash, but could not confirm the extent of injuries to the drivers of the trucks.

As of 8:35 a.m., DPS reports that one lane is now open to thru traffic.
