SPORTS COMPLEX AT BSSLC GETS BOOST FROM LOCAL ATTORNEY

The fund drive to construct an Adaptive Sports Complex at the Brenham State Supported Living Center got a major boost, recently.

According to the Center’s latest update, a two-to-one matching donation up to $250,000 has been made by local attorney Robbie Gail Charette.

Officials say this means that every dollar donated to the complex by June 30th will triple.

The Hazel Lawson Complex would allow clients of the State Supported Living Center to participate in baseball, soccer and football.

The sports complex was made possible by a $500,000 gift from Houston businessman Larry Lawson, whose late sister, Hazel, was a resident at the Brenham center.

The complex will feature an all-weather baseball field which surface will allow for wheel chair movement. It will also have several shaded areas for participants.  The complex will be open to participants through the Miracle League and other organizations serving children and adults with special needs at the SSLC and surrounding communities.

Contributions may be sent to the Volunteer Services Council, 4001 Highway 36 South, Brenham, or online at www.brenhamvsc.com.
