The storms moved across the region around 5 p.m. and prompted severe weather warnings from the National Weather Service for Burleson, Brazos, Grimes and northern Washington County.

Authorities said an 18-wheeler caught on fire Sunday night on State Highway 6 in southern Brazos County.  Officials say the truck may have been struck by lightning.  No one was reported injured.

Washington County was spared the brunt of the storm’s damage.

  1. Got caught in that–busted out my windshield in my Accord, knocked hole in outside mirror, dents on body. Could not find a place to hide due to heavy traffic on Hwy 36.
