SUSAN CANTEY FILES FOR CITY COUNCIL ELECTION

  

Longtime Brenham resident Susan Cantey has filed for the Position 6 at large seat on the City Council.  She currently serves as the vice chairperson on the Brenham Main Street Board.

Cantey says she would like to see Brenham continue to grow:

Susan Cantey and her late husband Craig became active in Brenham in 1978 when they purchased three buildings in downtown along with Botts Title Company.

She has been very active in the community serving on numerous boards including the Trinity Hospital Foundation Board, Unity Theatre Board, Animal Friends of Washington County Board, and as Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce.  She was named Woman of the Year in 2000.

Cantey explains her qualifications for the position:

 

The Position 6 at large seat on the Brenham City Council is currently held by Gloria Nix.  She has yet to file for the May 6th election.  Candidates for City Council have until February 17th to file with the city.

  1. If these downtown/”Main Street” folks get elected, I sure hope they will give us “common” historical business/property owners a fair shake when it comes to benefits and recognition. There are many historical buildings here in Brenham that aren’t located downtown that seem to be forgotten by the “Main Street” group.
