BURTON ISD HOLDING EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENINGS

Burton ISD is working with Burton Special Services Cooperative to screen 3 and 4 year old children in the school district for its Early Childhood Program.

The screenings will take place next Tuesday, August 7th, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the Burton Elementary School, located at 12504 Cedar Street.  The screenings will help parents and teachers determine whether a child is ready for Kindergarten.

The Early Childhood program is designed to help children who do not have the skills necessary to be successful when coming into school.  Professionally trained individuals, such as special education teachers, counselors, educational diagnosticians, and speech therapists, will assist in the screenings.

These screenings include questions and activities in the areas of fine motor, cognitive-verbal, and gross motor skills.  The screenings will take around an hour to complete.

All interested parents should bring their children who will be 3 or 4 years of age on or before Sept. 1, to Burton Elementary School on Tuesday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon.  For more information, call Administrative Assistant Amy Jozwiak at 979-289-2175, ext. 0725.
