HANNA WARMKE CROWNED QUEEN OF 150TH WASHINGTON CO. FAIR

Hanna Warmke was crowned Queen of the 150th Washington County Fair Wednesday night.
Warmke sold a total of 4,288 season passes to the Fair, raising $128,640. This beats the previous record of $86,540, set in 2016 by Carli Conway.
Hanna represented Washington County 4-H, and is the daughter of Cabin and Missie Warmke.
This year’s runner up was Taylor Klatte, who sold 2,179 tickets. She is the daughter of Catherine and Herbert Klatte Jr., and represented Brenham FFA.
Altogether, each candidate raised a total of $221,436, shattering last year’s ticket sales record of $179,293.

The Junior Mr. and Miss Pageant were also held Wednesday night. Kord Mikolajchak and Lauren Hook were announced as this year’s Junior Mr. and Miss. The parents are Kelvin and Crystal Mikolajchak, and Tom and Lisa Hook.
This year’s Little Mr. and Miss are Eli Joseph Merkley and Charlie Ann Alford. Parents are Joseph and Chelsea Merkley, and Eric and Katie Alford.
Official opening ceremonies were held Wednesday night, along with entertainment from Dale Watson and Gary P. Nunn.
Activities continue throughout the week, and will wrap up Saturday night with performances from Robert Earl Keen and the Randy Rogers Band.
The sad part is with all the ticket sales, sponsorships, donations from year to year & especially with this being a special anniversary year the Fairgrounds is in the worst condition ever, & same boring fair with inflated ticket price, same old story nobody will say where the funds are or where their being used. Its sure not going to the grounds or back to the kids. The county which has done nothing to help either with all the grounds & building rental money collected all year we should have a state of the art complex at best at least a covered arena & entertainment area with nice clean equipped handicapped bathrooms.
so the winner depends on how many tickets are sold. not what they do for the community?
Ticket sales account for 60% of the contest. Some of the other counties near us (Austin) have a ‘ticket queen’ and a queen. That way the people who want to buy it for their child can do so and the rest of the girls have a real shot at being queen based on other criteria.
