MAIFEST COURTS TO BE ANNOUNCED SUNDAY AT SERENADE
The beginning of one of Texas’ oldest springtime traditions will kick off this Sunday in Brenham.
Starting at 2 p.m., the annual Maifest Serenade will be held at the Dr. Bobbie Dietrich Memorial Amphitheatre at Hohlt Park.
Catherine Kenjura, President of the Maifest Association, says this ceremony is the start of the Maifest season.
Last year’s kings and queens will announce this year’s royalty, which will make up the 129th Junior and Senior Maifest Court.
The Brenham High School Band will perform its mid-winter concert at the Serenade, and the Brenham High School ROTC will post the colors. The themes of 2019’s Maifest courts will also be announced, in addition to many of the planned activities going on the weekend of Maifest.
Kenjura encourages kids of all ages to get involved in Maifest.
The Maifest Serenade will be broadcast live by Craig Montana, on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com. KWHI will also livestream the event on our Facebook page.
In the event of bad weather, the Serenade will be moved to the Brenham High School cafeteria.
