WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER AGREEMENT WITH FEMA FOR ALERT SYSTEM

  

Washington County Commissioners will act on a memo of agreement for an alert system when they meet Tuesday morning.

The county will consider an agreement with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS).

According to FEMA’s website, IPAWS gives public safety officials a way to alert and warn the public of serious emergencies, using the Emergency Alert System (EAS), Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio, and other public alerting systems from a single interface.

Also in court, commissioners will look to authorize payment to Faith Mission for services provided during Hurricane Harvey.

Commissioners will also consider adopting the position descriptions and salary/wage ranges for the Victim Assistance Coordinator and Felony Chief Assistant District Attorneys.

The court will also look at reappointing Commissioner Kirk Hanath, Treasurer Peggy Kramer, County Attorney Renee Mueller, and E-911 Director Kristi Stamnes for their second term to the salary review committee.  In addition, it will consider appointing Chief Deputy Jay Petrash as the Sheriff’s Office and Jail representative to the committee.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m., at the Washington County Courthouse.
