BLINN AWARDED ALMOST $1 MILLION TO GIVE TRAINING TO TEMPUR SEALY, IGLOO EMPLOYEES

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has awarded Blinn College nearly $1 million to provide training for Tempur Sealy and Igloo employees.

The Commission awarded the College a Skills Development Fund grant worth $991,823 to provide safety and skills training for 511 employees.  The grant will upgrade 424 positions and create 87 new jobs at the two companies.

Blinn will provide training in 58 different courses, like electrical troubleshooting, process technology, manufacturing safety, communication, and leadership.

Blinn Chancellor Dr. Mary Hensley said Blinn is proud to partner with Tempur Sealy and Igloo, and looks forward to providing customized training programs to help employees “stay at the forefront of their respective industries”.

The Skills Development Fund provides customized training opportunities for Texas businesses and workers to increase skill levels and wages of the Texas workforce.

Igloo Products Corp. is a Texas-based international designer, manufacturer and marketer of coolers and other outdoor products and housewares.  Tempur Sealy International, Inc. develops, manufactures, and markets mattresses, foundations, pillows, and other products.
