FAYETTE CO. DEPUTY LOCATES COCAINE IN HIDDEN COMPARTMENT

A Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy found a half pound of cocaine hidden in vehicle Tuesday on I-10.  Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that Tuesday morning at 10:45, Interdiction Investigator Deputy David Smith stopped a vehicle on I-10 for a traffic violation.  When Deputy Smith made contact with the driver he noted that the driver was extremely nervous and Deputy Smith observed several criminal indicators.  Smith asked and received permission to search the vehicle.  During the search of the vehicle a hidden compartment was located under the hood of the truck.  Once the compartment was accessed, approximately a half pound of what was believed to be cocaine was located.  Arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance was 57 year old Peter Witherspoon out of San Antonio Texas.  Witherspoon was transported to the Fayette County Jail.
