According to probable cause statements, police received reports of a hit and run on the southbound side of the highway.  At the scene, officers found the car that was hit, but not the one that caused the collision.  However, they found a license plate at the scene that led them to a Ford F-250 addressed in Navasota.

At the Navasota address, police spoke with a man identified as 43-year-old Pattrick Tucker, who told them the truck had been stolen.  Tucker gave permission to police to search his phone, where they found pictures taken in the truck just a few minutes before the crash.

Tucker admitted to driving the truck at the time of the accident, saying he and his wife were arguing before the crash on Highway 6.

After the collision, Tucker exited FM 159 and left the truck at Westward Ho.  He told police his wife came to pick him up, and after coming home to Navasota, talked with her about saying the truck was stolen if law enforcement came looking.

Tucker was charged with Failure to Stop and Give Information, and Vehicle Damage Greater than $200.  According to Brazos County jail records, Tucker also had two warrants out of Hill County worth $252,500—one for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, and the other for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
