BRENHAM MAIFEST POSTPONED TO LATER IN 2020

One of Texas’ oldest springtime traditions may not occur in the spring this year.

Due to COVID-19, the Brenham Maifest has been postponed to a later date this year.  Practices for the event were halted earlier this month, with the Brenham Maifest Association saying it will follow the same closure schedule as Brenham ISD.

Brenham Maifest Association President Catherine Kenjura said the youth of the community are “at the heart of everything we do”.  She said the Brenham Maifest Executive Committee and the families of the 2020 Maifest Royalty “place the utmost priority on the health and safety of all of its members, volunteers and the community”.

Kenjura said organizers are committed to providing a great celebration this year, and once it is safe, volunteers will work diligently to make this year’s event a great one.

Those who have not ordered a costume are asked to hold off on doing so until further notice.  Those who have will have the same costume that has been assigned, once activities resume.

The Maifest Association will continue to communicate further updates through email and social media.  Anyone with questions is encouraged to email Kenjura at catherinekenjura@gmail.com.
