CITY URGES ‘SOCIAL DISTANCING’ OVER HOLIDAY WEEKEND

The City of Brenham is reminding citizens of the importance of ‘social distancing’—especially on weekends like this.

At a time when families typically gather to celebrate Easter with large gatherings and Easter egg hunts, City of Brenham officials are reminding residents of the importance of continuing to reduce the spread of COVID-19 – saying this year may be marked by un-traditional ways of “gathering”.

In a city press release-issued Thursday evening-the city says social distancing doesn’t have to mean social disconnect, and finding new and innovative ways to gather have never been greater.

Mayor Milton Tate says, “As we enter the holiday weekend, we must consider new ways to gather in order to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.”

He goes on to say, “We are in unusual times and as hard as it is to miss out on some of our regular family traditions this Easter, we must remain mindful of our current goal – reducing the spread of COVID-19.”

Many local churches will be streaming Easter Sunday services online. Some ways of “gathering” with friends and family this weekend include: Facebook LIVE, TikTok videos, Zoom, Duo, etc.
