WASHINGTON CO. NOW REPORTING 196 TOTAL COVID-19 CASES, 26 DEATHS

  

Five new cases of COVID-19 and the 26th patient death were confirmed over the weekend by Washington County authorities.

The cases were confirmed Saturday in three women and two men, all from Brenham, ranging from their 20s to their 90s.  The Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (BNRC) reported one of the five new cases in a resident, and the patient death was attributed to the facility.  Of the county’s 26 COVID-19 related deaths, 23 have been linked to the BNRC.

The county now has 196 positive cases, 113 of them active.  Ten patients are currently hospitalized, while 57 have recovered from the virus.

At the BNRC, 110 positive cases have been reported, consisting of 87 residents and 23 employees.  Two of the facility’s 70 cases remain hospitalized, while 17 patients have recovered.

As of Saturday, county officials have performed an estimated 1,393 COVID-19 tests, with 127 coming at the BNRC.
