WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER TAX PHASE-IN FOR CORROSION RESISTANT ALLOYS, LP

Washington County Commissioners will potentially take steps forward with a large economic development project at their meeting Tuesday.

Commissioners will hold a public hearing before considering the creation of a tax reinvestment zone for commercial tax phase-in requested by Corrosion Resistant Alloys, LP.  The tax phase-in would apply to a 173.1 acre tract at 4300 Highway 290 East, outside of Brenham city limits.

According to the website of Corrosion Resistant Alloys, LP, the company is a manufacturer of high grade corrosion resistant alloy tubes, with a primary market in the upstream oil and gas industry.  The company has a global headquarters in Houston.

At Thursday’s Brenham City Council meeting, Brenham Economic Development Director Susan Cates presented new details on what has been referred to thus far as Project “Silver Crayon.”  She said the property for the project is now under contract, but maintains that the project itself is still confidential and competitive.  The county is the lone finalist in Texas out of three other communities, and is in competition with a site in Louisiana.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, commissioners will hold public hearings and potentially approve the records archive plans of the district and county clerks for the 2021 Fiscal Year.  They will also receive an economic development quarterly report and a tourism quarterly report.

The court will also consider approval of the 2021 county holiday schedule, along with a proclamation declaring November 10th as Election Hero Day in the county.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse Annex.
