SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR BRENHAM AND WASHINGTON CO.

  

 

Monthly sales tax rebates for Washington County and the city of Brenham rose for the second straight month, while Burton saw a decrease in their distribution.

Brenham’s November rebate was $639,796, up 8% increase from last November, when the city received $592,193.

So far this year, the city’s total payment is $6,390,518, 4-tenths of a percent below last year at this point, when the city had received $6,393,480.

Washington County’s refund increased 2.9-percent this month, to $286,056.  Last November’s payment was $277,744.

Through 2020 the county has received $2,806,515, down 4.4% from last year’s total of $2,938,094.

Burton’s November rebate was $7,504, down 2.7% from last November, when the city received $7,718. So far, Burton has received $79,000 in 2020, up 2.7% compared to the $76,851 received last year.

Sales tax revenue for Texas cities totaled $583.9 million, up 6.1%. Counties received $52.4 million, a 1.5% increase.

These allocations are based on sales made in September.
