CRIME STOPPERS ANNOUNCES “WASHINGTON COUNTY HARD”
Washington County Crime Stoppers announced today the formation of the Washington County Hard campaign. The campaign will offer $3000 anonymously for the arrest and conviction of a felon, $5000 if that felon hurts someone. They will also encourage the Brenham City Council and the Washington County Commissioners to fully fund law enforcement. They also will strongly encourage the Justice of the Peace and county and district Judges to set high bonds for felons. The goal of the campaign is to have felons think twice about committing crimes in Washington County. The number to call to anonymously leave a crime stoppers tip is 979-836-TIPS.

Washington County Hard – Hard on Crime!
In support of our local law enforcement and judges and to help keep our community safe, Brenham Washington County Crime Stoppers is launching our Washington County Hard campaign to accomplish the following:
· Provide Crime Stoppers tip reward for felons starting at $3,000
· Provide Crime Stoppers tip reward for felons who hurt others starting at $5,000
· Encourage Brenham City Council to FULLY FUND the Brenham PD
· Encourage WC Commissioner’s Court to FULLY FUND the WC Sheriff’s Office
· Strongly Encourage county Justices of the Peace to set High Bonds for Felons
· Strongly Encourage county and district Judges to set High Bonds for Felons
The goal here is to have felons think twice about committing crimes in Washington County.
Crime Stoppers will pay high rates to have felon captured by property funded law enforcement professionals and those felons will be interned with substantial bail amounts to assure them appearing for their court dates. By standing firm and enforcing laws, criminals who are looking for an easy mark will choose somewhere else. Washington County residents and visitors will feel safe in this community.
The more violent the crime – the higher the tip reward will be and hopefully the higher the bail amount will be set. This goes especially true for repeat violent offenders.

What a good program for our community. Money is always a great motivator. Here’s hoping that it motivates justice to be applied to everyone. I was not aware that the city council was planning to reduce funding for the police department, or is that statement just political rhetoric? If the open carry bill supported by our counties state representative Ben Lehman becomes law, can anyone tell me how ANY citizen can determine if the person who walks around with visible firearms is friend or foe? I guess we would find out after the shooting is done.
Sounds like Washington County is turning it citizens against each other. Will the County also condone Red Flag laws?
Now please get some deputies or detectives out fm 50 north to patrol and work on the crime in the Jerry Quarters area where i live. Old people are scared.
