Washington County Commissioners signed off on a contract for winter storm repairs at the Washington County Expo at their meeting today (Tuesday).

Commissioners agreed to award a contract for construction manager-at-risk services to Chappell Hill Construction Company.  The contract is for the rehabilitation and repairs of the Expo office building and event center, which suffered major damage during Winter Storm Uri after several pipes burst and caused flooding.

The contract includes a preconstruction fee of $3,760, an 8.5 percent construction manager’s fee and 9.75 percent general conditions fee.  These figures are based on a maximum price of no more than $450,000.

Expo Director Harrison Williams said based on the type of work being performed, the limiting factor is going to be availability for parts as there is currently a scarcity.  He believes repairs will take four months to complete.

As repairs are completed, office operations are taking place in the country creations building, located directly behind the current office building.
