BRENHAM PD LAUNCHES PUBLIC OPINION SURVEY

The Brenham Police Department has announced the creation of a public opinion survey.

The department says the survey will allow citizens to offer feedback and evaluations of their opinions on police service.

From the police department’s website, www.cityofbrenham.org/police, citizens can access the survey, which features various categories where they can score police on the caliber and quality of service delivered, how safe they feel in the city, and different responses for perceived crime levels.

If a citizen checks that they have had contact with a Brenham police officer in the past, they will be prompted to complete additional questions based on that contact, along with an opportunity to add additional details and other information they believe may be helpful to the police department.

The survey takes five minutes to complete and is designed to gather opinions and experiences from both residents and visitors to Brenham.  The survey assesses five key components that involve police: community involvement, safety, procedural justice, performance, and contact and satisfaction.

Brenham Police Chief Ron Parker said the survey was based on the idea of Sergeant Steven Eilert and several other officers and was widely supported by the Brenham Police Department’s Citizens Advisory Board.  He said public trust is “the life blood” of the police department, and that police “must always keep striving to be the best that we can be.”
