BRENHAM ISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION’S “ARTS AND APPETIZERS” EVENT

The 17th Annual Brenham ISD Education Foundation’s “Arts and Appetizers” event was almost back to normal last night at Ant Street Inn Ballroom.  Last year the event brought in almost $50,000.  The total for the event won’t be known until sometime Friday, but the live auction alone brought in over $37,000.  The highest item sold in the live auction was a three night stay in a 5 bedroom house near the Frio River donated by former BISD Administrator Janet George.  It originally sold for $2700 to Brannon Industrial Group, but then was donated back and sold again to Jeffrey Sadler for $2900.  The highest student shown artwork went for $2300.  It was a charcoal piece shown by John Val Klein and was sold the Dietz family.

The live auction showed 18 pieces of art, but another 40 pieces were available to purchase online through the silent auction.  A drawing was also held for 17 donated items. Students will receive ½ of the proceeds from their artwork, with the other ½ going to the Brenham ISD Education Foundation.  The Foundation has given out over $500,000 in mini-grants since it was created in 2004.

This year’s theme for Arts and Appetizers is “Education Gone Wild.”  Sponsors and donors for Arts and Appetizers include: ACU of Texas; BBVA Compass; Behrens Land Group; Brannon Industrial Group; Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative; Brenham Area Marble; Brenham National Bank; BRIANNA's Fine Salad Dressings; Citizens State Bank; Collier Construction; Combined Benefits Group; CPD Group; Crain Group; Dahmann & Associates; Davis Custom Builders of Texas, LLC; Discount Doors & Metal; E3; Karczewski Bradshaw Spalding Nichols Lamp Langlois; Legacy Realty; Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson; LTY Engineers; Mattrezzz Guys; Modern Air Solutions; PlanNorth; Seidel Schroeder; Spit N Shine; Van Dyke Rankin Insurance; Wellmann Insurance; and Brand It Graphix.
