“ARTS AND APPETIZERS” EVENT BRINGS IN RECORD AMOUNT

Maria Solis shows off her work "Season Views" at this years "Arts and Appetizers".

The final numbers are in, and it looks like this year’s “Arts and Appetizers” event brought in almost $30,000 more than last year’s event.  The total number brought in was $76,335 this year compared to $48,912 last year.  This is the 17th year for the event, put on by the Brenham ISD Education Foundation.

The main draw of the event is the live auction which features the artwork of 18 Brenham ISD students along with 6 big ticket items that were donated.  This year’s event brought in $40,350 compared to only $18,700 at last year’s, a difference of over $21,000.  The silent auction also brought in more than last year with a total of $7,630.  Sponsorships and Donations were also up, $23,250 this year compared to $18,100 last year.  The only category that was down over last year was the drawing which brought in $5,105 compared to $6,110 last year.

Students will receive ½ of the proceeds from their artwork, with the other ½ going to the Brenham ISD Education Foundation.  The Foundation has given out over $500,000 in mini-grants since it was created in 2004.
