CHAPPELL HILL HONORS WOMAN, MAN AND BUSINESS

  
The event was held at Grapevine on Main, one of Chappell Hills newest businesses.

Some of Chappell Hill's outstanding citizens and businesses were recognized Friday evening at the Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce Recognition Reception.  This year's reception was held at Grapevine on Main, one of Chappell Hill's newest businesses.

The late Dr. Robert Stark and Mary Louise Young were recognized as the 2022 Man and Woman of the Year.

Dr. Robert Stark, who passed away in October of last year, was medical director the Washington County EMS for over 30 years.  He was instrumental in having Washington County EMS to carry whole blood in their units and provide the best cardiac care possible.  He also worked tirelessly to have the EMS locate a station in Chappell Hill.  Dr. Stark was very passionate about Brenham High School athletics and also served on the Brenham Maifest Board for over 30 years.

The Man of the Year award went to the late Dr. Robert Stark. Accepting the award is his wife Beth, his family, and last years Man of the Year, Rodney Hanath.

Mary Louise Young is best known as the owner of the Brazos Star in Chappell Hill.  She is very passionate about Chappell Hill history having restored several several historic homes in the area.  She has also been an avid golfer, water and snow skier, and bowler.  In 1978 she was inducted to the Hall of Fame of the Texas Woman's Bowlers Association.

The 2022 Woman of the Year went to Mary Louise Young (R). Presenting the award are Joel Romo and last year's Woman of the Year, Dale Dugas.

The Chappell Hill Bank was selected as the 2022 Business of the Year.  It has been in continuous business in the same location since 1907.   Accepting the award for the business is Bank President Edward A. Smith Jr.

Also honored at this year’s reception were retiring chamber board members. Katie Matthews of Edwards Jones Investments and Betty Fogarty, an Individual Member.
