FORTNIGHTLY CLUB DONATES $35,000 TO NANCY CAROL ROBERTS MEMORIAL LIBRARY

Members of the Fortnightly Club of Brenham present the Brenham City Council on Thursday with a check for $35,000. The club raised the money through its annual used book sale and a fundraising campaign to be donated to the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library.

The Fortnightly Club of Brenham has donated $35,000 to the City of Brenham for the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library.

The club presented a check for $35,000 to the Brenham City Council on Thursday, representing the club’s proceeds from its annual used book sale and fundraising campaign.

City of Brenham Librarian Idalia Avezuela thanked the club for “always being the rock that keeps the library safe and keeps the library moving towards their goals.”

The Fortnightly Club was unable to hold a used book sale in 2021 due to COVID-19, resulting in a surplus of available books and the extension of this year’s sale to a full week.

Club President Lu Hollander said the organization is dedicated to supporting and improving the library year after year.

Hollander also introduced Susan Myers as the incoming club president.  Myers will serve in the role for two years, beginning in July.
