BRENHAM SCHOOL TRUSTEES HEAR STAAR TEST RESULTS

  

The Brenham School Board discussed the MAP and STAAR test results at their meeting Monday evening.  The results do not include any High School students who tested in June, only the results for the spring were included.  Scores were at or above the State average except for the 3rd grade level which was under.  Trustee Jared Krenek asked how the numbers compare to pre-COVID times.  The new Director of Instruction Peggy Still answered with her understanding of the Middle School:

Trustees also announced their approval of three positions with the district.  Melissa Boenker was officially named as the Principal at the Early Childhood Learning Center.  Natlie James was named as the Assistant Principal at Brenham Elementary School.  She had previously been an Outdoor Education Support Specialist with the District, and Jay Huffty will serve as the Director of Safety and Security for the District.  Mr. Huffty is currently serving as the Director of Safety and Security for New Braunfels ISD.

In other action:

1.  Trustees approved new lockers for the Cub Fieldhouse at Cub Stadium.  Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin stated that this was only a temporary fix of the problem of the Fieldhouse not accommodating female athletes.  He said the lead-time for the lockers was 18 to 20 weeks, so they should be here in time for girls’ soccer season.

2.  Trustees approved PRIDE Academy's Optional Flexible School Day Program for the 2022-2023 school year.

3.  Trustees approved an application to continue implementing the High School Equivalency Program for the 2022-2023 school year.

4.  Trustees approved the Reading Horizons program for the District.

5.  Held a Public Hearing regarding the ESSA Title Grant Application.

Monica Fricke (L) is honored by the Brenham School Board for being named the Region VI Education Service Center middle school / junior high school counselor of the year.
The Brenham ISD Maintenance Department is honored by the Brenham School Board.
The Brenham Tax Appraisal Office is recognized by the Brenham School Board.
Melissa Boenker is officially named by the school board to be the Principal of the Early Childhood Learning Center.
