CURTIS FUCHS INDUCTED TO AG TEACHER HALL OF FAME
Former Brenham FFA Advisor and Ag teacher Curtis Fuchs was recently inducted into the Agricultural Teachers Association of Texas Hall of Fame. This spring Fuchs was surprised with the news that the Brenham FFA and Alumni Association had nominated him to the Hall of Fame for his 43 years of service and dedication to the Cy-Fair and Brenham High Schools Ag education and FFA programs. Mr. Travis Gonzales, Brenham CTE Director and Ag Teacher coordinated the nomination and Mr. Colby Finke, Brenham FFA Ag teacher accepted the plaque in his honor at the Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas Conference in August in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Fuchs was presented his award plaque and honored recently at the local Brenham FFA Alumni Meeting with family, friends and FFA alumni gathered to celebrate the Hall of Fame induction. Former students and now Brenham FFA Ag teachers Travis Gonzales, Colby Finke, Jordan Kaminski and Joseph Dickschat all addressed Fuchs and thanked him for his years of service and mentorship to so many young students in Brenham ISD and throughout the agricultural industry. Former Washington County Extension Agent Doug Pierce also shared words about serving next to Fuchs as they coordinated animal projects and livestock shows for many kids in Washington County together as agent and advisor. Christy Fuchs Moran shared thanks on behalf of her dad and the family for the opportunity to honor Fuchs and see him inducted into the Hall of Fame. Fuchs then addressed the crowd as well to reminisce about his time in both the Cy-Fair and Brenham FFA programs and how thankful he is for all the opportunities with the students, staff and animal projects and contests that he got to work with. He also commented that he is so glad to see the Brenham FFA program continue with such great Ag teachers and happy to see the success continue.
Fuchs was an Agricultural Science teacher at Cy-Fair High School in Cypress for 10 years and then transitioned to Brenham to teach at Brenham High School for 23 years to culminate a 43 year career and retirement from Brenham ISD in 2013. Fifty-four Ag teachers were inducted into the Hall of Fame in Texas in 2022. Fuchs and his wife Kathy Fuchs live in the Burton area and own and operate CF Cattle Company along with family members Wes and Courtney Mason and David and Christy Moran and grandchildren Parker, Madison, Logan and Dawson.
