GAS PRICES UP OVER LAST WEEK TO BEGIN 2023

  

Gas prices around Texas are up to start the year over the past week.

According to the AAA Texas Gas Watch, the statewide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $2.84, 20 cents more than the price a week ago, but 6 cents less than what drivers were paying on average at this time last year.

Brenham’s average gas price aligns with the state average at $2.84, with a low of $2.70 and a high of $3.20.

Looking at the major metropolitan areas in Texas, drivers in the McAllen-Edinburg-Mission area are paying the least on average at $2.72 per gallon, while drivers in El Paso are paying the most at $3.22.

Nationwide, the average price for a gallon of gas is $3.21, 11 cents more expensive than last week, but 7 cents cheaper than a year ago.
