SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR ALL LOCAL ENTITIES IN OCTOBER

  

Sales and tax distributions were up across Washington County for the month of October.

Washington County’s rebate this month was $371,929, up 6.21 percent from the $350,174 it collected in October 2022.  So far this year, the county has received $3,946,721, an increase of 11.15 percent from its receipts of $3,550,796 through this time a year ago.

The City of Brenham brought in $819,490 in October, 9.27 percent up from last October, when it received $749,902.  The city’s collections of $7,972,256 through 2023 thus far are up 5.31 percent from the $7,570,134 received through October of last year.

The City of Burton’s October rebate was $9,860, 13.42 percent more than last October’s payment of $8,693.  To this point in 2023, the city has received $90,801 in comparison to $82,683 for the same timeframe in 2022, an increase of 9.81 percent.

According to Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar, the state paid out $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations this month, up 4.5 percent from last October and up 6.2 percent for the year to date.
