BRENHAM MAN FOUND GUILTY OF CONTINUOUS SEXUAL ABUSE OF A YOUNG CHILD

A Brenham man was found guilty by a jury Monday evening of sexually assaulting his stepdaughter.

Luis Guerrero
(Washington Co. Jail)

45-year-old Luis Guerrero is charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child.  Punishment will be assessed by Judge Carson Campbell at a date to be determined.

The Washington County District Attorney’s Office said in a release that the victim in the case made an outcry of ongoing sexual abuse seven months after moving out of the home where she lived with her stepfather Guerrero, as well as her mother and half-siblings.  She disclosed years of sexual abuse as well as instances of physical abuse, under the guise of discipline.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office investigated the allegations, and the case was indicted by a grand jury in June 2019.

At trial, the victim and investigators testified along with family members, representatives from local child advocacy center Scotty’s House, and a forensic nurse examiner from Baylor Scott & White Hospital.  Guerrero testified on his own behalf.

Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child is a specially categorized felony that allows a person to be charged for committing two or more sex acts against a child under 14 during a period of more than 30 days in duration.  The punishment range is 25-99 years, or life, in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.  There is no possibility for parole.

District Attorney Julie Renken and Assistant District Attorney Lorraine Nwora represented the State, and Scott Ballard represented the defendant.

During closing, Renken stated that the victim’s mother was present to support Guerrero and that the victim lost her relationship with her mother and half-siblings and had to move from the only city and school she knew.  Renken said the victim showed “great courage” and that her abuser “will be held accountable.”

  1. I sure hope the mother, if you can call her that, loses custody of her other children. She’s not fit to be around any of them. I think she needs to be investigated for condoning child abuse for years!! This is just plain awful. Evil woman and man. Put her away as well. She’s guilty.

  2. I really hope for the sake of the rest of the children that CPS is involved since the “mother” sided with this horrible human!!!!!!!

  3. Justice served again!! Praise the Lord the jury made the decision to put this monster away hopefully for LIFE. He can think about what he did the rest of his days. Praying for healing and peace for the victim in this case and for anyone else he has abused!! His reign of terror is OVER!!

  4. I’m saddened to read that her mother took the predator’s side. How disgusting. I hope this little girl finds peace in her life after such a traumatic event!
